By: J. Bliss
Jasmine tries to stay happy pursuing her lifelong dream and ignore her unfulfilled sexual desires with her husband. Yet her self-actualization cannot override her sexual disturbance as she tries to fight the temptation of a past flame. Her monthly inspirational dinner with Chantal and Victoria mood shifts when one couple’s infidelity comes to light from an unwelcomed guest. “
Lovers of Convenience is a romantic, erotic, suspense novel by author J Bliss. Set largely in Atlanta, it is the first installment in a trilogy that traces the difficulty of maintaining a solid relationship in modern times. Six married high school friends, plus two other single friends (all of whom have achieved middle to upper class economic status) go to their monthly dinner at Drew and Jasmine’s house, but the mood shifts when one couple's infidelity comes to light. Secrets are revealed and each couple begins to notice fractions in their own marriage. Over the course of two weeks, the couples battle with issues of insecurity, infidelity, betrayal and forgiveness and examine their lives as individuals and as committed couples. This story explores the resultant emotional impact that withholding sex and love have upon the constitution of marriage. It is notable for its explicitly erotic scenes featuring elements of sexual practices.
The three couples, who are also best friends, converge at a friend’s house for an evening that has become their ritual of sorts to help keep them united. Though the couples have committed to being present, a fight breaks out between Romel and Cecil, who is cheating on his wife. The evening is not planned out in a well-programmed sequence, so the events unfold somewhat spontaneously, beginning with their "adventures" in a fight.
Color Blind, by J. Bliss, portrays the struggle of the affection of Mr. and Mrs. Loving. This was a time period when society was not receptive to black and white people wedding. Imprisoned for getting married and forced to leave their home state, for not being reluctant towards their love, the couple moved to Washington.
The ribbons represent the ongoing struggle surrounded by the views of interracial couples,
yet the dominance of their love is represented in their undying love never to be defeated by the intertwined struggle.
Within the ribbons are words strategically placed exhibiting the coiled havoc interracial couples tackled. The inverted positioning of the words is placed to emphasis the confusion among the views of
others towards their sightless love.
